Something different…

Duncan Epping · Nov 23, 2008 ·

A while a go I posted a couple of my fav. songs, something different for a change. I really enjoyed writing the article cause I’ve always been a huge fan of music, alternative music that is. The cool thing about writing these articles is looking up the videos on youtube.

So I’m gonna do three songs this time, and try to explain why I picked these songs.

In my previous edition I included Pearl Jam. PJ definitely produced the best grunge album ever, TEN. But Nirvana is the best grunge band. The intensity, energy, atmosphere and the pure raw sound made this band in to a legendary one. It’s a shame Kurt Cobain threw away all the talent he had. This was their first video for one of the best grunge labels Sub Pop:

The second song is from a band called Down. Down isn’t a full time band, it’s more of a side project or should I say supergroup. Down contains of members and former members of Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and Eyehategod. Normally I’m no fan of supergroups cause for some reason it hardly ever works out. But Down is definitely an exception. Their “debut” album Nola is still one of the best metal CD’s ever. Just listen to this song, Stone the Crow:

It took me a lot of time before I picked this third song. There are so many great songs and bands out there. Most songs I picked so far were “old” songs so that’s why I picked a more recent song, Kaiser Chiefs – Never miss a beat. Although this is probably the only song on their new album I actually like I do still think KC is a great band. Their debut album “employment” is amazing, and so is this track… I really like it and my kids love it:

New Design

Duncan Epping · Nov 20, 2008 ·

Just completed and uploaded my new design. I spend a whole lot of evenings on increasing the readability and I hope you guys like it.

As you can see I dropped the the two column sidebar and changed it to just one, which seems more than enough. I also dropped some of the widgets because hardly anyone was using them and it increases readability. There are still a few minor tweaks to be done, but I just wanted to get this out on the internet.

So back to business again, and let’s start writing some more Virtualization Articles.

TechTarget just acquired the BrianMadden company

Duncan Epping · Nov 19, 2008 ·

According to this press release TechTarget.com just bought the well known BrianMadden Company. Don’t really know what to think of it. But congrats to Brian!

Information technology (IT) media company TechTarget, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTGT) today announced the acquisition of The Brian Madden Company, the leading independent, website and conference to address the needs of IT decision makers on the topics of desktop virtualization, terminal services, and application virtualization.

As an addition to TechTarget’s portfolio of market-specific media, The Brian Madden Company brings the largest community of IT professionals specializing in application delivery and desktop virtualization. This includes hundreds of thousands of visits to BrianMadden.com, and attendees to BriForum, an annual event held in Chicago and the only independent conference covering the desktop virtualization space.

“After the success of server virtualization, desktop virtualization is poised to be the next ‘game changer’ for IT organizations seeking to gain competitive advantage through information technology. BrianMadden.com is the leading source of information for IT decision makers that need to bring desktop virtualization’s benefits to their own organization,” said Jonathan Brown, Publisher of TechTarget Windows Media. “This site and conference will enhance our coverage of the virtualization market, giving us a clear lead in delivering the information that technology professionals need. We have the largest audience that Virtualization vendors are trying to reach. BrianMadden.com and BriForum ‘09 will complement existing TechTarget websites SearchServerVirtualization.com, SearchVMware.com, and SearchEnterpriseDesktop.com as well as the expert led seminars on desktop and server virtualization which will be continuing throughout 2009. Join the program!

Join the VMware referral program and receive $ 10,- for every two valid referrals:

We’re pleased to announce a new VMware Referral Program that gives you rewards when you recommend VMware products to others. You can participate even without a blog or website, as we give you the tools to send custom emails or bug your friends on social networks, or if you do have a blog, you can get a spiffy widget like you see on the right, and you can customize what it says. (All rewards through this particular widget go to the Red Cross, by the way.) You’re also giving out a special “friends & family” offer, which at this point is a 10% discount.

You get $10 credit (which can go straight to your PayPal account or to a gift card or charity) every time two VMware Store purchases are made from your referrals. (That $10 number tells me that we expect to moving more copies of Fusion and Workstation than VI Enterprise through this referral, but go crazy selling ESX if that’s what you’re into.) In any case, it’s a great way to spread the word about the solutions you use every day that make your life easier and got you your last promotion.

I’m currently working on a new design, so expect the referral widget to pop up within a week, and with holiday season coming up I can’t think of a better present than VMware Workstation! If you can’t wait, click here!.
