Are you attending VMworld and are you a big fan of Neon Trees and/or Alabama Shakes? The VMworld team was kindly enough to provide me with a VIP ticket with the opportunity to meet Neon Trees and Alabama Shakes at the VMworld Party in the AT&T Park. Awesome location and great bands. I was thinking about it, and I figured that one of my readers / followers must be a huge fan of both bands or either of the bands and would go wild even thinking about the opportunity to meet them, so why not give the tickets away! So here is your chance to win a “meet and greet” with the band. Here’s how to win and some rules as I want to make sure it is a customer or partner winning this:
- You need to be attending VMworld, with a ticket valid to enter the party (paid attendee)
- Leave a comment and explain to me how big of a fan you are of either of the two bands and why YOU deserve to meet your heroes!
- Make sure you leave a valid email address in the email field!
I will select a winner on the 1st of August.

Excited to see Alabama Shakes. Growing up in the South they emplify the charm of the people and atmosphere. My son who is autistic also Loves the band so it has great meaning. They never leave the crowd sitting – everyone cheering the whole set through and through.

Duncan – I’m a frequent visitor to your blog and your posts have bailed me out on numerous occasions when looking for answers. I would be honored to be selected for this VIP opportunity. I will be attending VMworld again this year and I’m a huge fan of both bands, however, I would be most excited to meet Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes. When you think of what a pop music lead singer looks like, she defies all standards. Her voice is so unique and their songs have been very inspiring. So glad this band has made it mainstream and I would excited to meet them. Bonus..I would make all my co-workers jealous. ๐

I don’t know either of the bands so I am in the most need of meeting them to find out about them. ๐

I’m attending and would love to meet Neon Trees- I’ve seen them live a few times, but it would be awesome to meet them in person. Cheers for VMworld 2015!

I just registered for VMworld today (I know, pretty late to the game according to the Schedule Builder!) and was super excited to learn about Alabama Shakes and Neon Trees playing. I’ve been listening to Brittany and the crew since they first hit the airwaves with Hold On and have loved all the tunes. Plus, Zac and I both grow a great beard so I’m sure we’d be fast friends!
Last but not least, my boss would lose her s#!t if I showed up with a selfie of me and Tyler from Neon Trees!

Wow! I am a huge fan of Alabama Shakes and have not been able to catch one of their shows becuase of work and time. I bought their first album and played it to pieces. When I saw Alabama Shakes on SNL in March 2015, it was so incredible that I sent the link to the SNL video of “Don’t Want to Fight No More” to everyone I know telling them they would regret not checking it out. And of course I preordered the Sound and Vision disk and have their songs on my wake up phone tone. They are brilliant and I would love a chance to thank them in person and encourage them to keep making their great music!

Duncan, I am a huge fan of yours and your site has bailed us out of some sticky issues several times. I’ve been following your feeds ever since I went to one of your sessions at Vmworld many years ago. When my company was doing a major corporate wide VMware redesign I asked our VMware reps what it would take to get a hour meeting with you to assist due to your broad range of VMware knowledge.
This will be my 7th Vmworld and each year Vmware keeps stepping it up a notch with the bands and venue. When the Killers and Train played at ATT park, I facetimed my girlfriend, Brittany, from the concert and to this day, it was one of the best concert’s I’ve been to.
I’m bringing Brittany with me to San Francisco this year and we’ve both been watching twitter for months for the band and venue announcement. We were both extremely excited when we saw Vmware announced they were going back to ATT park and the bands were Neon Trees and Alabama Shakes. We were both so excited for the concert, we made our wedding band learn Animal and everybody takes. I just married Brittany 2 weeks ago and the songs were at hit on the dance floor at the wedding. I would love to surprise my new wife at the conference by meeting one of here favorite bands, Neon Trees, and Alabama Shakes who we’ve been listening to a ton mover over the past few months.

I’ll be attending my fourth VMworld this year and would love to meet the Alabama Shakes. I’m living in Los Angeles, but I’m originally from Georgia, so I appreciate their music.
Since this is my first comment on your site, I want to thank you for the articles you’ve written on vSphere. I’ve learned a lot. Your vSphere Clustering book was a big help for me ony my way to earning my VCP.
Thanks again!

I am a huge Alabama Shakes fan! About 2 years ago, before they were well known, my wife and I saw them in concert at the Vogue in Indianapolis, IN. We were right at the foot of the stage with Brittany just a few feet away and with a crowd of maybe 200 people. It was such an incredible concert and she was so passionate with so much soul that we became instant fans. That summer on our way back from Panama City Beach, FL we decided to stop by Brittany’s home town of Athens Alabama and have lunch. We asked the server (around 19 years old) what she thought about Alabama Shakes and Brittany Howard and I’ll never forget how she looked at me with this blank stare and had no clue who Alabama Shakes were. I was astonished that she didn’t know about this great talented band that came from her own home town. Anyway, my wife and I saw Alabama Shakes again this past summer, but this time there were many thousands of people and we were 200 feet from the stage. It is great seeing such a talented band make it big. I bet that server now knows who Alabama Shakes are. I’d love to meet Brittany!
