vCenter Plugin Survey

Duncan Epping · Mar 1, 2012 ·

This is just a short survey so I am hoping all of you are willing to provide feedback about the use of vCenter Plugins. It will only take you two minutes max to fill out, only 6 questions!

As VMware moves from the traditional desktop admin client, to the new Web Based client for vSphere administration, we’d like to get a feeling from you on which partner plug-ins are crucial for to make the upgrade to a new client

NOTE: The first question REQUIRES an an answer to be checked but some of us probably don’t use any of the listed checkable plugins…

Like Aaron, we don’t use any of the listed plugins, but I had to select something.

Also, please don’t move to a web based management console, unless you can guarantee 100% that the console AND all the snapins work 100% on IE8, IE9, and IE10 (guessing on the timeframe).

I am currently fighting the Dell Snapin which has a small web based setup portion, and it only works on IE7 and IE8 – of course, those are the 2 versions we don’t run; we use IE9 for most desktops, and IE6 on a couple of VM workstations for sites that don’t keep up with support for secure browsers. Let’s not get into that state with vmware. And no, Chrome, Firefox etc is NOT an option – they are not our corporate standard.

Thanks for the feedback, I will make the vCenter Product Manager aware of your concerns.
