vSphere vCenter Update Manager on Windows 2008 32/64BIT?

Duncan Epping · Jul 15, 2009 ·

According to page 15 of the the vSphere compatibility matrix guide VMware vCenter Update Manager isn’t supported on Windows 2008 32 and 64 bit. I just received an email from one of my colleagues stating that this is incorrect. The document will be updated soon but for now take my word on it VUM is supported on Windows 2008 32 and 64 bit!

Might as well not do it on x86. WS2K8 R2 will be x64 only, so get every server there now while we can.

I’m currently running it on Windows 2008 x64 (in a VM), so I can also attest that it works.

What about SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition x64 for Update Manager? This is shown as not supported as well, but many forum users state that it works just fine. Any chance this will be listed as supported any time soon?
