Bluebear Kodiak, what’s up?

Duncan Epping · Apr 22, 2009 ·

I still receive a lot of beta invitation requests while it has been really quiet around Bluebear Kodiak over the last couple of months. (I did a (p)review a while back) I just received an email that a brand new version of the Kodiak beta is about to be released. I already received the Air file but haven’t been able to test it yet. But Matt Miller of Bluebear uploaded a demo video just which shows some of the new features and I must say it really looks slick.

If you are still looking for an invite, I received another 50 and it’s on a first come first serves base. Just click here for an invitation.

(update: the invites don’t seem to be working, I will ask Bluebear to fix it asap.)

    Thanks for the invite.
I really like the GUI and the 3D effect.

    Loved watching the demo

    Looks very impressive indeed!

I found the site a little lacking in information however, does this replace the vcentre or can it connect to existing clusters for managment?

    Agreed!

Our web-presence is undergoing a comprehensive refresh, please BEAR with us 🙂

Kodiak is a free/open alternative to software like VIclient. He works great side-by-side with Virtual Center, ESX hosts, or both!

That’s not to say we don’t have secrets hidden away in our R&D cave…

Good answer, ill be sure to try this out on one of our test clusters.

    Thanks for the prompt response.

Definitely looks impressive. If anybody does have extra invites laying around I would love to test this in our environment. Thanks!

I am not able to find any details about the Bear Server which was previously published in the website – http://www.bluebearllc.net/

Anyone else get the new package? It still shows the old one for me….

Looks cool but I lost interest months ago when security bugs prevent the use of the product on Windows platforms.

I have been wanting to take a look at this for quite a while now, if you have spare invite to send my way I would really appreciate it.

I’m a VMWare Partner and this software would definitely help out in our linux office. Please send an invite my way: john at theorum dot net

If you have any invites left, I would love to try it out. Lack of infrastructure client is a big hurdle for me to get over before switching to Mac. You can send an invite to b.bruce.snell at gmail dot com
