Duncan Epping · Jul 26, 2010 ·

Just got noted that the Presentation of the VCDX 3 Preperation Workshop has been published. This Powerpoint presentation was given by John Arrasjid and Pang Chen during Partner Exchange and got a lot of great feedback. For everyone aiming to become a VCDX over the course of the upcoming months this is definitely a must read!

Mandatory VDCX documentation

    Hi Duncan,

My understanding was that the VDCX exam would be either update or removed by the new certificates VCAP-DCA and VCAP-DCD but please correct me if I am wrong here.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

VCAP-DCA and VCAP-DCD are stepping stones to the VCDX 4.X certificate.

    Think of it like this:

    VCP ~= CCNA
    VCAP-DCA/VCAP-DCD ~= CCNP
    VCDX ~= CCIE

in terms of expected skill level.

    Hi Russell,

    Thanks for you prompt reply.

My understating was that VCDX for version 3 would be upgraded to version 4 and that there will be, sometime next month, one upgrade exam for people like me who started the VCDX path but did not get quite there yet 🙁

This was the one area that was a little unclear for me in the VCDX process. Its a must read.

    Duncan,
I know this was posted about 6 months ago, but a have a couple of questions:
    1) Is there a vSphere version available?
    2) Is the scenario for the design provided by Vmware, or can it created by the applicant? Slide 21 seems to imply that it will be provided for us and we’ll then need to come up with a design to suit.
    Thanks.

      1) we are working on a vSphere version. Blueprint should be out soon and new dates for vSphere VCDX Defenses should be scheduled as well soon.

      2) with the design scenario it is the panel who hands you a situation and you as an architect need to make a design based on requirements/constraints/assumptions etc.

        Thanks.
So the design that is submitted before meeting the panel can be one of my own design?
Also, are there any VCDX Defenses planned for Australia in the foreseeable future (or is it too early to say)?
Thanks again. Your comments and blogs have been invaluable in assisting the preparation of my submission.

          1) the design that you will defend needs to be created by you.
          2) I know they are talking about a defense in APAC, if that will be Australia is unknown at this point.
