VMware Virtualization Professional Program

Duncan Epping · Dec 10, 2008 ·

During the VMTN Round Table podcast John Troyer just announced that within the next couple of days the “VMware Virtualization Professional Program” will be released. VVP can be compared to Microsofts MVP program. I think it’s great to see that VMware is taking the bloggers, community members and other professionals sharing knowledge serious and will be rewarding them with the “VVP” status.

That is nice. Would like to hear some more details. Sorry I missed this round table. I was at a corporate function.

Any idea how this will differ from being a VCP and how it will affect us?

VCP is a certification for which one needs to pass an exam. VVP is an “award” or should I say a reward. People need to vote for you, and you need to be active in the community: blogging, moderating, vmug leaders, viops contributions etc.etc.

On other words, VVP is something you need to earn.

Ah right ok I know what you mean now. I read MVP as MCP and assumed it was some kind of cert. My bad!

Wow, fantastic! It is great to see different programs being made available from VMware for folks in the industry. I’ve always thought highly of Microsoft’s MVP program.
