VMworld Europe, sign up now and register for sessions!

Duncan Epping · Sep 12, 2016 ·

VMworld US is over, I’ve watched various sessions and now am starting to prep for VMworld EMEA, which will be in a month. (17-20 Oct) If you haven’t registered yet then now is the time to do so, the longer you will wait, the more expensive flights will become. If you have registered and are starting to look at the agenda then here are my 2 sessions I have scheduled this year:

  • 18/10/16 (Tuesday) 15:30 – Software-Defined Storage at VMware Primer – STO7650 – Lee Dilworth / Duncan Epping
  • 19/10/16 (Wednesday) 15:30 – A day in the life of a VSAN I/O – STO7875 – John Nicholson / Duncan Epping

And based on the sessions I have seen so far, I would also like to recommend to add the following to your schedule:

  • VMware Chief Technology Officer Panel – Trends and Futures [CTO9943] Joe Baguley, Paul Strong, Shawn Bass, Ray O’Farrell
  • vSphere 6.x Host Resource Deep Dive [INF8430] Frank Denneman / Niels Hagoort
  • Extreme Performance Series: vCenter Performance Deep Dive [INF8108] Ravi Soundararajan, Sameh Zakhary
  • Tech Preview: Enhanced VM Availability Leveraging vCenter and Partner Hardware Integration [INF8020] Maarten Wiggers
  • vSphere DRS Deep Dive: Understanding the Best Practices, Advanced Concepts, and Future Direction of DRS [INF7827] Naveen Nagaraj
  • An Industry Roadmap: From storage to data management [STO7903] Christos Karamanolis
  • The Power Hour: Deep Dive, DevOps, and New Features of PowerCLI [INF8092] Alan Renouf
  • Virtual Volumes Technical Deep Dive [STO7645] Pete Flecha / Patrick Dirks
  • Virtual SAN: Introducing the Best HCI Platform for Containers and Cloud-Native Applications [STO8256] Christian Dickmann / Rawlinson Rivera
  • Cloud Native Buzzwords (Demystified) for Dummies [CTO7964] Massimo Re Ferre’

VMworld Europe, where can you find me?

Duncan Epping · Sep 16, 2015 ·

I have a couple of sessions schedule for VMworld Europe, as it stands right now all of those still have availability. If you are going to VMworld Europe and haven’t registered any sessions yet I would urge you to do so today, you don’t want to show up and find the session is full. I have one more session which isn’t listed below, which is the Quick Talk on VSAN Use Cases which is being rescheduled as we speak due to a conflict. I hope I can add that one soon to the list.

  • Tuesday, Oct 13, 15:30 >> INF4535 – 5 Functions of Software Defined Availability
  • Wednesday, Oct 14, 12:30 >> STO5333 – Building a Stretched Cluster with Virtual SAN
  • Thursday, Oct 15, 13:30 >> SDDC5027 – VCDX Unwrapped – Everything You Wanted to Know About VCDX

Final lab results VMworld Europe 2010

Duncan Epping · Oct 14, 2010 ·

I just received the final numbers on the VMworld Europe Labs. I am really excited that the vCloud Director Lab came in as first as I was one of the Captains for that Lab. Great improvement compared to the US where we came in as 4th. Other Labs that went up a couple of places are VMware vShield and of course PowerCLI!

We managed to hit both of our targets and I must say that the Labs were well organized and I was extremely impressed by the fact that all of it was hosted in the Cloud! Don’t let me keep you waiting much longer, here are the numbers:

Total Labs completed: 5,948
Total VMs deployed: 56,435

The Top 10 labs were:

  1. VMware vCloud Director Install & Config (646)
  2. VMware View 4.5 Install and Config (623)
  3. VMware vSphere Perf & Tuning (491)
  4. VMware vShield (364)
  5. VMware View 4.5 Advanced (341)
  6. VMware ESX 4.1 new features (326)
  7. VMware vSphere PowerCLI (290)
  8. VMware vSphere Troubleshooting (286)
  9. VMware ESXi Remote Management Utilities (275)
  10. VMware ThinApp 4.6 (242)

Thanks everyone for attending VMworld and making it a success and hope to see you next year!
