What’s going on… the amount of views / hits have almost doubled over the last couple of weeks. I received more hits in August already than I did in July. Here are some stats that the hosting company provided me, unique hits:
dec – 1225
jan – 7700
feb – 13100
maart – 13300
april – 19233
mei – 19034
jun – 20783
jul – 27564
Aug – 36159
Last month I had 9017.39 MB of traffic. This month I already have 3039.94 MB.
And I just checked this in WordPress and see the same numbers coming up. Normally I would hit around 1200 a day on the WordPress Stats. In July this went up to 1800 and now I’ve reached 2700…. I have a total of 165,952 views in 9 months…
Any other bloggers noticing the same trend? Just talking with my colleague about it and could this be related to the ESXi hype… hmmm,
Just narrowed it down, started the 28th of July. Indeed the day that ESXi 3.5 u2 was released and free of charge!

I keep finding this site via search engines and it was also forwarded to me from the Update 2 article you posted referencing the DNS issues. 🙂

You don’t think it has to do with your Employee Link on the VMware.com blog page (http://blogs.vmware.com/vmtn/)?

Ever heard of the hype cycle? Meaning that in this case it takes a while before people get to know your site, once they know they will stick around for a while until you stop posting interesting stuff,… So it’s up to you to determine on which part of the cycle you are right now. I would stay that your still going steadily up and you should keep up the good work.

Duncan – Just a quick note on your post on live cloning. Live cloning has always been possible with the converter plugin. now its just part of VC…so its not listed in my blog. Maybe i should have considering not a lot of people knew you could do it.

Carlos,
I’ve been on the Planet V12 for a while and I think most people use that for their RSS.
Mr Deeds, Hype cycle… well that doesn’t explain the extreme amount of extra hits over the last weeks. It’s 75% more than it use to be. Something caused this.
Leena, that’s right… it just wasn’t a VC feature that’s why I mentioned it.

Duncan – nothing to be surprised about – you’re posting GREAT content. Keep it up, and don’t change a thing – which ever way the views go…!
My idea on the pop – you did some very useful update 2 posts. Enough linkage to you, and whammo.

Duncan, you only started showing up on ‘Planet VMware’ a couple weeks ago. That’s how I came across your blog and might be part of why you’re seeing such an increase in traffic.
Duncan Epping says
than be sure to check out the Planet V12 full blown blog feed Sean cause there are a whole bunch of very interesting articles published every week! Planet V12 features not only VMware employees,
